In search of an exciting day trip from Hong Kong? On this Guangzhou full-day tour, you will sail to China's mainland and explore the southern region of China, known as Guangdong province. Once there, you will visit some of the most fascinating sites in all of China, including Shekou Industrial Zone, Six Banyan Tree Temple, and the Memorial Hall of Dr. Sun Yat Sen.
You will begin your Guangzhou sightseeing tour by hopping aboard a catamaran for a tranquil ride to the port of Shekou, followed by an air-conditioned drive through the picturesque countryside to Shekou Industrial Zone. Formerly a customs station, in 1979 China Merchants of Hong Kong transformed the area into an industrial zone, with the goal of attracting foreign oil companies. While exploring this commercial area, you will get a feel for the everyday life of these working-class families. Before strolling through a safari park, if you are not traveling during school holidays, you will get the chance to visit a kindergarten class for an adorable experience with the youngest inhabitants of Shekou. After seeing one of China's native pandas at the safari park, you'll stop for lunch at a local Chinese restaurant. If time allows, you will meander through a typical Chinese market.
The next stop on your tour is the world-famous Exhibition Hall in Shekou, home to the magnificent Qin Dynasty Terracotta Warriors and Horses from Xian, China. In addition, you will see 2000-year-old bronze crafts, wall paintings, and pottery from the Tang Dynasty.
You will then head to the beautiful city of Guangzhou, which is the largest city in the Guangdong province. Then you will begin your sightseeing with a Guangzhou city tour. On your tour of Guangzhou, you will visit the Six Banyan Tree Temple, also known as Temple of the Six Banyan Trees. This Buddhist temple contains an extensive collection of renowned cultural relics. Additionally, your Guagnzhou tour includes a stop at the Memorial Hall of Dr. Sun Yat Sen, who was deemed "Father of the Chinese Nation" for his contribution to the 20th century republican revolution.
After the city tour of Guangzhou, you will return to Hong Kong via the express train to Kowloon Station, and then you will take the Hong Kong Island transfer. If you are staying in Hong Kong and want to experience the nearby cultural highlights of China, this is the tour for you.
