Trip Overview

This 4-day Germany vacation takes you to Christmas markets in Berlin and Dresden.

Your Germany Christmas vacation begins in Berlin, the country’s capital and one of the most vibrant cities on the planet. In the past, Berlin was synonymous with Prussian austerity, but today, it has transformed into the coolest city in Europe. Its wide range of museums, historical sites, nightclubs, and restaurants offer something for every kind of traveller. Take advantage of the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour to see some of the landmarks, from the State Opera to Brandenburg Gate to Potsdam Square to Checkpoint Charlie. Afterwards, head to the Gendarmenmarkt, one of the best market squares in the city, where you’ll visit the Christmas Market and celebrate the holidays with a glass of mulled wine and some baked treats. You’ll also find many shops and stalls selling traditional toys and trinkets, so you’re in luck if you need to do some last minute Christmas shopping.

Continue your Germany vacation by heading to Dresden, the gorgeous Baroque city rebuilt from the ashes of World War II. Use the Hop-On Hop-Off bus tour in the morning to take in the reconstructed Frauenkirche, the Opera House, and to visit along the picturesque Elbe River. After seeing the landmarks, head to Altmarkt Square to close out your celebration of the city at the Striezelmarkt, which has been dazzling merrymakers since 1434. Today, over two and a half million people visit the market each year. Snack on some gingerbread, cozy up alongside a bonfire, and enjoy the magical atmosphere of the market. At day’s end, return to Berlin to close out your Christmas vacation.
