Overview

The Amazon Rainforest is mostly inaccessible by road, making travel there an adventure in itself with a Clipper Cruise Adventure in the Amazon! On the Amazon Clipper Cruise, you will spend four days navigating the world’s biggest river and its tributaries. Here you will see nature at its finest, especially at dawn and dusk. Travelers will hike in the forest and go fishing, bird watching, and swimming. You have the option to take the Amazon Clipper Premium Cruise that offers the Amazon’s best small-ship cruising. The trip includes a visit to Brazil’s second largest city, Rio de Janeiro.

Inclusions

Prices include domestic air transportation from Rio to Manaus, hotel accommodation including daily continental breakfast, cabin accommodation on Amazon Clipper including all meals and activities, all transfers between airports and hotels with assistance and baggage handling, guided tours of Rio de Janeiro, and the Amazon in English, and all entrance fees. Local airport taxes that are payable in the country of destination are not included. Taxes and security fees that can be paid at time of ticketing are already included.

Thursday: Overnight flight to Rio de Janeiro.

Friday: Upon arrival in Rio, reception at airport and transfer to the hotel.

Afternoon private tour to Corcovado with private driver and guide. The tour begins in Cosme Velho's neighborhood. The cog train rolls through the Tijuca Forest, the largest urban forest in the world and up to the statue. Once there, enjoy a panoramic and extraordinary view of Rio, including the Sugar Loaf, the Guanabara Bay, the beaches of Southern Zone and the Rodrigo de Freitas lagoon. At the peak of the hill is Christ the Redeemer, the art deco statue of Jesus Christ and icon of Rio. After the visit of the Corcovado, the tour continues to São Conrado area with a brief stop at the Pepino beach where you can appreciate hang glider overhead. Transfer back to the hotel.

Today enjoy a private Half Day Tour to the Sugar Loaf with private driver/guide.
This tour begins with a stroll through downtown Rio, passing by the Sambodrome, and the Metropolitan Cathedral, in pyramid form, with internal diameter of 96 meters and height of 80 meters. Get to know the traditional Cinelandia square with the historical buildings, the Municipal Theater, the National Library and the National Museum of Fine Arts. By taking the Aterro do Flamengo, one will be taken to the neighborhood of Urca to find one of the largest symbols of the city: The Sugar Loaf. This visit is made in two steps by cable car. The first cable car takes passengers to Urca Hill which is 215 meters high and provides a beautiful view of the Guanabara Bay and its islands, the Rio-Niteroi bridge and Corcovado hill. From this stage, a second cable car will be taken up to the top with 395 meters to find a splendid view of Copacabana beach, the Santa Cruz fortress and some beaches of Niteroi.

Tonight, experience the show at the Rio Scenarium (this tour does not include dinner). Located in the Lapa area, Rio Scenarium is one of the premier places to listen to the best of Brazilian music, and where the real carioca spirit of bohemian way of life can be felt. The venue is an antique shop during the day, and a live music bar during the night. The programming changes every month. The show ends around midnight.
Note: If one prefers a traditional samba performance on stage, Yampu can include Rio Plataforma. After dinner, enjoy a Brazilian music presentation at the famous Rio Plataforma. Rio Plataforma is one of the premier places to listen to the best of Brazilian music. Please ask a Yampu travel consultant.

Monday: Morning transfer to the airport to take the flight to Manaus Upon arrival, transfer to the pier at Tropical Hotel. Departure from landing-stage at 2:00 p.m. Commence with a presentation on board in order to get acquainted with the staff, the route and facilities on the boat. Welcome drink. After a snack, meet in the leisure room for lectures about the Amazon to get a better understanding of the ecology of the Amazon. Before dinner, there will be time to enjoy a caipirinha, Brazil's national drink, while watching the sunset. Dinner on board. After dinner, explore the streams and ponds, and with the help of spotlights, search for crocodiles and alligators, and sometimes even night-hawks, snakes, sloths and frogs.

Tuesday: wake up at Lake Janauaca and begin a canoe excursion along the waterways and lakes full of amazing aquatic plants, keeping eyes open for birds and pink dolphins. Return for breakfast, and then have a walk in the forest and visit the residents of the lake, who make a living off manioc, fishing, fruit trees, rubber, chestnuts, wood and other extractive products. The piranha fishing in the evening is not just for those who love fishing - it's also possible to see large flocks of beautiful birds such as herons. After dinner, explore the forest in canoes to observe nocturnal animals and admire the millions of stars, sometimes including the "Southern Cross" - the smallest of the modern constellations. 

Wednesday: One last excursion of birdwatching and to see the Vitoria Regia, the giant water lilies, in the January Ecological Park. Explore the mysterious flooded forest by canoe or by trails, observing the nature of the trees and the water. While enjoying breakfast, the boat will begin its navigation towards the "Meeting of the Waters" - a unique spectacle where the muddy waters of the Amazon and the dark waters of Rio Negro flow side by side without mixing for several miles. Making the trip back, pass by Manaus, observing the floating docks, the market, the old customs house, and the Opera dome, arriving around 11:30 on the Pier of Tropical Hotel. In the evening, transfer to the airport to take the flight back home.
