Upon arrival to Lima, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel. Here, a trip representative will present you with a documentation kit including detailed program information, help with your luggage, and assist with hotel registration.

Today, set out to learn about the two characters of Lima: the modern one, reflected in the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro; and this historic one, encapsulated in the historic center that was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Along the way, you will see how the old and modern coexist in buildings such as the Museum of Italian Art, Palace of Justice, the Museum of Lima and Plaza San Martin, among others. Discover the heart of Lima on foot, with the Main Square taking centerstage: this beautiful colonial square is certain worthy of photographs and is surrounded by emblematic buildings including the Government Palace, Cathedral and the Archbishops Palace. You will also have the opportunity to enter one of the most iconic ecclesiastical spaces in Lima, the Convent of Santo Domingo, which was declared to be the Cultural Heritage of Humanity and is host to the relics of three Peruvian saints: Santa Rosa de Lima, San Marin de Porres and San Juan Macias. An exploration of Lima is not complete without a visit to the outstanding Rafael Larco Herrera Museum, one of the most important in the country, and where you can explore a collection of nearly 45,000 pre-Hispanic pieces, especially those designed by the Moche. Standing out as one of the first the world to provide visitable storerooms and virtual access to its entire collection, you’re sure to be dazzled by the collection which includes jewelry, textiles, ceramics and the ‘erotic room’ which features pieces alluding to fertility.

Not to miss: Temple of the Sun (Koricancha), the Cathedral, and the Inca Fortress of Sacsayhuaman. But please remember this afternoon is left at leisure to help you adjust to the elevation. Though an optional evening activity to visit the San Pedro Market and ruins can be arranged, consider a gentle pace today so that you are fully acclimatized by tomorrow when the adventure resumes in earnest. Today is dedicated to exploring three jewels of the Sacred Valley of the Incas: Maras, Moray and Misminay. From the top of Maras, you’ll enjoy a fantastic view of the salt mines, where the coveted Maras salt - some of the finest in the world - is collected. Here you will find nearly 3,000 pools that in Inca times were an important center for the imperial economy. Today, it continues to be a valuable source of income for hundreds of families. With stunning panoramic vistas of the mosaic of terraces and ponds, Maras offers the perfect setting for budding or experienced photography enthusiasts alike. Soon after, you’ll continue onward to the Moray archeological site, which resembles a natural amphitheater. During the Tahuantinsuyo, it functioned as a sort of laboratory and agricultural research center, according to several studies. Its enormous concentric terraces and the variety of microclimates they create allowed the growth of a variety of crops. Later in the day, you’ll visit the traditional community of Misminay, where you will enjoy a cultural exchange and get to know the traditional Andean lifestyle. The warm and inviting locals will welcome you with their music and dance, and then encourage you to participate in a few daily activities, typically surrounding planting, harvesting and textile work.

Following another hearty breakfast at your hotel, attention turns toward the day's adventure, reaching iconic Machu Picchu. The journey begins with a transfer to nearby Ollantaytambo, where you will board a train with service to Aguas Calientes, found in the foothills of Machu Picchu (timetables are subject to confirmation). The train ride itself is quite picturesque and showcases much of the region's natural beauty. Upon arrival, you will make your way up to the mountain citadel via bus, then enjoy a guided tour of one of the most striking wonders of the world. Learn the history that surrounds this mysterious and enchanting place and hear stories of the incredible customs and impressive Incan architecture. Once the guided tour is over, you will descend the mountain and enjoy some free time in Aguas Calientes before settling in for lunch. After lunch, you will board the train once again to begin the return trip to Ollantaytambo, then transfer back to Cusco.

Now that you are fully adjusted to the altitude, perhaps today you will wish to stroll at leisure through the historic and charming streets of Cusco, looking for handicrafts and souvenirs to bring home. Alternatively, consider joining an optional activity to tour the Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain, a challenging hike that requires an early start to the day, rewarding you will incredible multi-colored vistas as part of an 8-kilometer (5 mile) hike. Enjoy breakfast at your hotel. At the scheduled time, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Cusco bus station. Departing from the station, it is easy to think you’re about to set off on a long and tiresome point to point transfer, but this is not the case. The route between Cusco and Puno is accented by magnificent scenery, beginning with the outstanding vista of the southern valley of Cusco. After driving south for approximately an hour, the bus will make a stop at Andahuaylillas, which is known for its 17th century church that hosts an impressively decorated organ. Carrying on further, you’ll make another stop at the ruins of Rachi, which is also known as the Temple of Wiracocha. Following this visit, you’ll have a break for lunch at a local restaurant (not included), then carry on to the archeological site of Puca Pucara, which was a military camp that also functioned as an administrative center. Finally, your last stop of the day is Puno, found near the shores of Lake Titicaca, where you will be dropped off at your hotel.

Jose Antonio Puno

The Jose Antonio Puno is located on the shores of Lake Titicaca just 10 minutes outside the city. Enjoy staying near the Sacred Lake of the Incas from the 106 comfortable guest rooms.

Travel by tourist bus following breakfast, taking a road from Puno that chases views of Lake Titicaca. After the three-hour transfer, you’ll find yourself in the town of Copacabana, a charming town on the shores of the lake. Here you will visit the local church, then board a boat to cross the lake, navigating to the Island of the Sun. The ride will take approximately one hour, and once you dock, you’ll make your way to the nearby Huacani to enjoy an aptapi (a typical highlands lunch). After lunch, you’ll make your way back onto the boat, then visit the ruins of Pulkokaina. Lastly, you’ll hike to a nearby place known as La Estancia to take in spectacular views of Lake Titicaca.

Ecolodge La Estancia

The La Estancia Ecolodge is located on the Island of the Sun in Lake Titicaca. The lodge combines the traditional architecture of Bolivia with the best of modern comforts. The lodge features 15 cottages built in the Andean style with adobe bricks and thatched roofs. Every room have a private ensuite, hot water and spectacular views of Lake Titicaca.

Ecolodge La Estancia

A word to the wise; set your alarm and rise early today! The sunrise here is worth waking for! Following breakfast, you will hike through Yumani, visiting the Inca stairs and the Water of the Eternal Youth. Shortly after, board the boat and visit the Island of the Moon, as well as the Inca ruins of Inak Uyu Temple. Before long you’ll return to Copacabana and begin the bus transfer to La Paz, which takes approximately three and a half hours to complete. Much like the route from Cusco to Puno, the splendid views along the way, now of the Andes Royal Range, will keep your mind occupied.

Your day begins with a unique visit to a few of the most popular neighborhoods and markets of La Paz, guided by a “lustra bota” or shoe-shiner, who will provide a different perspective on the Bolivian capital. Meeting your guide outside a former train terminal, you’ll hop on one of the many telefericos (or cable cars) lines that span across this incredible city. Among many highlights, you’ll visit the Fish Street Market, Flower Market and the Uruguay Market, where a wide range of products can be found. The tour continues to Eloy Salmon Street, lined with stalls and shops selling the latest technology, and finally, to the Cholitas Market, where local ladies are typically found shopping for traditional skirts and blankets. The tour wraps up at the world-famous Witches Market on Linares and Sagarnaga streets, where you will learn a bit about Andean cosmovision.

After an early rise and coinciding with your flight to Uyuni, you will be transferred to La Paz airport. Please note that domestic flights are not included in the program price, however, they can be added; please speak to your Destination Specialist. Upon arrival to Uyuni, you’ll make your way to the flats. Your time in this unique landscape, found nearly 3,700 meters (12,140 feet) above sea level, begins with a visit to the pre-Columbian fort of Ayque Pucara and the nearby chullpares, both found in the foothills of the Thunupa Volcano. Later, you’ll continue east to Colchani, where your hotel is found, arriving in time to catch the wonderful sunset.

Palacio De Sal Hotel

Located in the port of Colchani, on the eastern shore of the Great Salar de Uyuni and just 25 kilometres from the city of Uyuni, the Hotel Palacio de Sal Hotel & Spa, recently remodeled, is built entirely of salt: Walls, floors, ceilings, and much of its implementation and decoration: Chairs, tables, beds, sculptures, and some are made of salt, so it is considered unique in the world.

Though this morning is at leisure, an optional activity is highly recommended (available at additional cost). If you choose, you can start the day in the early hours and transfer to the Uyuni Salt Flats. Once there, enjoy the scenery, surrounded by water, salt and the sunrise. After enjoying some time to take in the sights and snap photos that you’ll likely to be sharing for years to come, you’ll begin the return transfer to the airport. After returning to La Paz (flight not included - please speak to your Destination Specialist), you will be transferred to your hotel.
