There’s no better way to experience the city’s gorgeous architecture and old-world charm than during a stay at The Balmoral Hotel, the most prestigious accommodation in the city. This 5-star hotel lives at No. 1 Princes Street, right at the crossroads of the medieval Old Town and the Georgian New Town. The hotel’s gorgeous clock tower has defined the skyline since the hotel opened in 1902. At The Balmoral Hotel, you’ll stay in one of 168 elegant rooms or 20 stylish suites with incredible views of the city and Edinburgh Castle in particular. You will find The Balmoral at Edinburgh's most prestigious address, No. 1 Princes Street, where the Old Town stops and the New Town begins. The hotel's majestic clock defines the city's skyline and since the day it was opened in 1902 it has run three minutes fast to ensure you will never miss your train. The Balmoral is a grand railway hotel where porters can still be organised to whisk guests from the station hall to the reception desk, and the kilted doormen will guide you into the hotel. All of the rooms have complimentary Wi-Fi, interactive entertainment and many have views of Edinburgh Castle and the Old Town.

Eat walk Edinburgh is the original Edinburgh food walking tour. On this tour you will visit five different bars/restaurants tasting locally sourced Scottish food with three of the stops also having drink tastings, Edinburgh raspberry gin, Single cask malt whisky and a Scottish beer (wine option available at beer stop) Your local guide will talk about the history of the city as you walk between venues and will give ideas for other places to visit after the tour is over. Food consumed equates to a three-course meal with drinks. Many of the venues chosen are where locals eat. A local company with local guides, the money for this tour all goes back into the local economy. On this tour you will not only pass through the historic part of the city, Old Town, dating back to the 15th Century but also visit the New Town, built in the late 18th Century. At end off the tour you will be given a map showing all the places visited and many offer discounts should you wish to return for a full meal. We can provide suitable dietary alternatives, just please give us prior notice to your needs.

Setting out in the morning with an experienced local guide, you'll head northbound from Edinburgh on a drive that will whisk you past The Kelpies, towering horse-head figures that routinely draw nearly one million visitors annually. Carrying on, you'll pass through the idyllic town of Callendar en route to the foothills of the Highlands where you'll break to tour Deanston Distillery, an outfit specializing in single malt whisky. After meeting the team and touring the facilities, you'll next head out to become acquainted with another set of locals, the Highland Coo's (cows). Get up close with these gentle giants, feeding a few before driving to Balquidder, the resting place for renowned (or infamous, pending on who you speak to) local Rob Ray. After a break for lunch (not included), drive through the magnificent West Highland Way, visiting Glencoe and the 3 Sisters mountain range before beginning the return trip back to Edinburgh. An incredible day of Highlands's discovery, this tour lasts approximately 10 hours.
