Trip Overview

This 6-day Swiss vacation takes you to along the Golden Pass Line from Lucerne to Interlaken and Monteux.

Your trip to Switzerland begins in Zurich, where you’ll board the train and journey to Lucerne, a small city with big style. Set on Lake Lucerne and boasting one of the country’s prettiest old towns, Lucerne is seriously gorgeous. Stroll through the town and cross Chapel Bridge, a famous covered bridge built in 1,333AD. The next day, ride the steepest cog railway in the world as you ascend Mt. Pilatus. Explore the summit and gaze out upon the lake and city lying far below. The next day, board the train and ride along the Golden Pass from Lucerne to Interlaken, enjoying breathtaking views of the Swiss Alps as you travel.

Interlaken lies in a narrow valley surrounded by two cobalt lakes and towering peaks. It also sits in the shadow of Mt. Jungfrau, one of the country’s most popular summits. Visit Europe’s highest train station, Jungfraujoch, known as the “Top of Europe,” and experience its year-round winter wonderland. You’ll also enjoy spectacular views of Interlaken and the valley below. For the final leg of your Swiss vacation, ride the Golden Pass Line to Montreux, the chic resort town located on the banks of Lake Geneva. Stroll the lakeside boulevard and enjoy the famous weather of the Swiss Riviera. After spending some time in Montreux, return to Zurich to end your vacation.

From Zurich airport or train station you will board the train to Lucerne. Famous for its medieval bridge, Lucerne is one of the most beautiful cities in Switzerland. Make sure to visit the historic city center with its colorful facades.

There are several ways to reach the summit: by gondola and funicular from Kriens or by cogwheel railway from Alpnachstad - the steepest in the world with a maximum gradient of about 48 percent. Travel to the top of Europe! Jungfraujoch offers a year-round winter wonderland of snow and ice. Disembark at the highest train station in Europe, at an elevation of 3.454 m. Built in 1912, the train travels approx. 9 kilometers high up in the mountains, crossing a tunnel through Mount Eiger. Upon arrival admire the breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier and the Bernese Oberland (Highland)
