This 11-day western U.S. trip encompasses some of the world’s great cities, along with some of the most mesmerizing natural sites you’ll find anywhere.
Your first day takes you from Los Angeles to Phoenix via the beautiful Palm Springs region. If time allows, take a side trip through the city to admire the Mid-Century Modern architecture and beautiful golf resorts. You’ll pass by rugged mountain ranges and dry chapparal as you make your way into Arizona.
After a night in Phoenix, you’ll travel through the Sonoran Desert, the richest, most biologically diverse desert ecosystem in the Americas. Continue to Sedona, a small city encircled by distinctive red-rock monoliths with such names as Cathedral and Coffee Pot. Then drive through Oak Creek Canyon before arriving at Grand Canyon National Park. With its plunging gorges and rising spires in every shade of orange and red imaginable, this is one of the natural wonders of the world.
The next day you’ll enter the Navajo Indian Reservation. Continue through the Painted Desert and the region of Monument Valley, where many a Hollywood western has been shot. Enjoy your evening at leisure in the town of Page.
After admiring the deep waters of Lake Powell, where crystal blue water laps against towering red rocks, you’ll head to Kanab, Utah and on to spectacular Bryce Canyon, with its remarkable rock formations. Weather permitting, check out the brilliant constellations in the night sky.
The next day is one of contrasts. Visit Zion National Park and see the massive rock formations carved by wind, time, and the Virgin River, then head to Las Vegas, the neon-lit "Entertainment Capital of the World.”
Las Vegas is there for you to enjoy, whether it’s the remarkable shopping and food scene or a top-rated show at night. Of course, there’s always the casino. If you’re looking for more nature, check out beautiful Red Rock Canyon, just west of town.
Your tour stops next at the Las Vegas Welcome Sign for that perfect social media post. From there you’ll enter the quiet and extreme environment of Death Valley. Check out the alpine resort town of Mammoth Lakes and the staggeringly beautiful mountain vistas.
You’ll head north from there to the scenic wonderland of Yosemite National Park, with its massive outcroppings of ancient granite, tumbling waterfalls and deep green meadows. It’s one of the most photographed national parks in the world. From Yosemite it’s on to the capital of California, Sacramento, where you can enjoy a great meal and a quick look at the stunning Capitol building.
You’ll depart the next morning for San Francisco, one of the most beloved cities in America. Enjoy a comprehensive sightseeing tour before you settle in at your hotel.
