A cruise from Colon gives you the chance to explore this exciting, small Caribbean province in Panama that’s packed with natural splendor and historical gems. For incredible views, trek through the tropical forests of Portobelo National Park to the impressive 17th century Fort San Lorenzo, which was overtaken by Henry Morgan’s pirates. Visit the town of La Guaira to fuel your senses with traditional dishes, artwork from local artisans, Calypso music and Congo dances. And be sure to check out the Agua Clara Visitor’s Center before you cruise to get a close look at the inner workings of the Panama Canal considered an engineering marvel.

Your ship departs promptly at 4:00 pm, so plan to arrive at least 2-3 hours early to account for checking in and boarding protocols. During this time, many of the ship's amenities are open and operating, so feel free to start your vacation early.

Cross from one ocean to another while taking in the unparalleled mountain and water views of the engineering marble known as the Panama Canal. The best way for visitors to see the canal is to literally get in the middle of it. See the man-made marvel of the canal while you take in the natural wonders around it, including the rainforest of Soberania National Park and the bright green hilltops of Barro Colorado Island.

Puntarenas introduces you to the ever-beautiful beach attractions of Costa Rica. Drive out to the Nicoya Peninsula and relax on one of its diverse beaches. Journey to the top of active Poas Volcano for incredible views of the turquoise lake that fills its steaming crater. Observe rescued wildlife like jaguars, spider monkeys and electric-colored frogs at La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a private eco-tourism reserve.

Experience the natural tranquility of the slice of Pacific coast that is Huatulco. Swim in the calms waves at Santa Cruz or La Entrega, or take the 40-minute drive to Barra de la Cruz for picture-perfect surfing. See the world's largest Virgin of Guadaulpe painting at Parroquia de Nuestra Senora de Guadalupe church. Then, refuel with chicken tamales covered with rich mole negro from an authentic street vendor in the old town La Crucecita.

Puerto Vallarta is paradise and romance defined. Relax on pristine beaches such as Yelapa, admire the the terracotta roofs of the old town and take in the impressive views of the bay from its charming promenade. From there, walk down to Los Arcos, the Roman-style arches overlooking the water that are Vallarta's most iconic symbol. Then, head to El Malecon, a beachside walkway with contemporary sculptures, as well as bars, lounges and nightclubs.

Give yourself some time to explore the multicultural city of Los Angeles. Stroll through the quaint Mexican shops at Olvera Street, or indulge in Korean barbecue in up-and-coming Koreatown. Get a view of the Hollywood sign from the hills at Runyon Canyon Park. Looking for some education? Check out the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, or see one of the world's largest collections of Ice Age fossils at the La Brea Tar Pits.

The cruise might have ended, but there are still some great activities to enjoy in the area. If you flew into this port, be mindful of your departure flight time and plan accordingly.
