This 8-day Croatia cruise sets sail from Opatija, taking a mix of Adriatic highlights and lesser known gems.
Spend your first evening in Krk, one of the most varied of villages in the region. Then set sail for Rab Island, where medieval walls still watch over the city. Visitors however might prefer the view from nearby Kamenjak Hill. Sail to Zadar, following a short swimming stop on Maun Island. Zadar is the Dalmatia’s historic economic centre, and maintains the role today. Enjoy the highlights on a city tour, including the 2000 year old Roman Forum, and the Church of St Donatius.
Cruise to one of the lesser known islands north of Zadar, docking at the tiny harbour of either Molat or Olib. This is your chance to appreciate the natural beauty of the islands with few other tourists around you. A Captain’s dinner party awaits you back on board that evening. As you sail on, admire the beautiful flowers of Ilovik, and the ‘sunshine island’ Losinj. The popular tourist area of Cikat Bay is particularly good for beach going or windsurfing if you’re so inclined.
The first thing that will strike you about Cres Island is its towering forests, with the wineries and olive plantations perhaps close behind. In fact, this island has been inhabited since the Stone Age, with remains scattered across it, along with neighbouring Losinj, which used to be part of the same island until the Romans separated them by digging an artificial channel. Finally, return to Opatija, with an afternoon to explore the local villages before a farewell party aboard ship.
