Amazing Experience

Overview

Trip Overview

This 4-day Vienna short break takes in the best of Austria’s capital before exploring delightful Salzburg.

Settle into your accommodation on the edge of Vienna’s old town, then spend the next day sightseeing Vienna by coach and cruising on the Danube. You’ll see Danube Tower, the colourful Kunsthaus and Hundertwasserhaus buildings, and journey outside the city for views of the nearby vineyards. Much of Vienna’s charm however lies in just roaming its streets, so take some time for this as well, with a cafe stop or two to watch this grand city go by.

Austria’s musical heritage is legendary, but nowhere more so than in Salzburg. Explore the town of Mozart with an afternoon walking tour that includes his childhood home. Your coach also passes through Hohensalzburg Fortress, one of Europe’s largest castles. On returning to Vienna, why not celebrate that heritage with a night at the Vienna State Opera?

Hotel Kaiserhof Wien

3 Night Stay

Meal Plan: Full Breakfast

When the Best Western Premier Kaiserhof Wien was built in 1896 on the former "Glacis Grounds" it was ranked as one of the most modern viennese hotels of its day, offering such novel conveniences (for the time) as a guest elevator, central heating, electricity and water in all rooms. The hotel offers rich tradition, but also a quiet and central location close to the imperial heart of Vienna. The top quality service and loving attention to details lend the hotel a uniquely comfortable and relaxing ambience. The hotel is just a short walk away from numerous sights, such as the Vienna State Opera, the Hofburg, the magnificent Ringstrasse, Konzerthaus, and many more sightseeing places in Vienna.

Hotel Kaiserhof Wien

The sightseeing tour starts at the Operngasse 8 and takes you to the Ringstrasse boulevard, where you pass many popular tourist attractions. First, take a look at the impressive Vienna State Opera. It is home of the famous "Opera Ball" which takes place every year. Not far from the Opera, the grand Hofburg Palace is located, the former winter residence of the imperial family. Next you will see the monumental buildings of the Museum of Art History and the Museum of Natural History. Further sights on our tour are the neoclassical Parliament, the acclaimed Burgtheater and the striking City Hall. On arrival at Schönbrunn Palace the guided tour starts at once, no need to wait for Austria's most popular tourist attraction. The former imperial summer residence is a listed World Heritage Site and attracts millions of people from all over the world every year. We visit the historic state-rooms and see how the imperial family once lived. You will also have time to take a stroll through the palace gardens or enjoy a cup of original Viennese coffee and a piece of delicious apple strudel. The city tour ends at the Vienna State Opera.

Relax on our comfortable bus while we drive to Salzburg. On the journey you will get the first impression of the beauty of the Salzkammergut countryside with its clear lakes and majestic mountains. "The Sound of Music" fans will recognize the landscape from the opening scenes of the film. On a guided walk through the historical centre of Salzburg, you see the most popular tourist attractions. One of the famous scenes of "The Sound of Music" was filmed in the gardens of the Mirabell Palace. It was here that Maria sang, together with the children, the song “Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So” at the fountain and on the steps. Aswell you will see the horse pond and the riding school where Baron Trapp sang the “Edelweis song” as a farewell. A real highlight of our city trip to Salzburg is the Getreidegasse, the street where the birthplace of Mozart is located. This narrow street still reminds us of the 18th century. Other tourist attractions on the sightseeing tour: University Church, St. Peter’s Abbey, the Salzburg Cathedral and the Festival Hall. You have some time at your disposal to explore the city, eat lunch or shop for souvenirs until our departure at 4 p.m. Estimated arrival time in Vienna is around 8:00 p.m.
