Spend 3 nights in this Nordic city with its many interesting and exceptional sights. Finland’s capital is built around a very attractive harbour and combines being something of an international metropolis while still retaining a small-town feel.
Your first introduction to Helsinki is a full day tour of the highlights which include Esplanade Park in the heart of the city, Helsinki Cathedral, a beautiful and historically significant Evangelical Lutheran church, Senate Square dominated by four buildings designed by Carl Ludvig Enge, the Government Palace, the main building of the University of Helsinki and the National Library, the Sibelius Monument in Sibelius Park which resembles organ pipes with a bust of the composer on one side, Temppeliaukio Church, one of Helsinki’s most popular tourist attractions as it is underground and was hewn from a rock and Suommenlina Fortress, one of the largest sea fortresses in the world and located on an island.
The following day brings something different and unusual – a tour to the Helsinki Design District established by a network of entrepreneurs and now straddling some 25 different streets with over 200 locations consisting of interior design centres, fashion boutiques, jewellery stores, antique shops, studios, galleries and museums and more.
