Discover a landscape of glaciers, powder snow, and frozen lakes on this winter train journey through Switzerland. Ride the rails of Switzerland to Interlaken, Zermatt, and St. Moritz to bask in the country’s unparalleled alpine splendour. You’ll have plenty of leisure time to ski and enjoy spectacular views of the Matterhorn and other mountain peaks.

This 7-day Swiss vacation showcases the gorgeous mountain landscape of the Swiss Alps in the height of winter. Splitting time between Interlaken, Zermatt, and St. Moritz, you can ski the Alps and enjoy breathtaking views of mountain peaks, including the Matterhorn. You’ll have plenty of leisure time to explore the Alps as you like, from delving into the cultural delights of the cities to exploring the natural wonders of the alpine landscape by foot, snowshoe, or ski. You’ll also connect to each of these famous resort towns by rail, enjoying the Grand Tour of Switzerland. You’ll ride the Glacier Express from Zermatt to St. Moritz, passing alongside the dramatic gorges and peaks of the Upper Rhone Valley and Rhine Valley. You’ll also ride the Bernina Express across the Italian border into Tirano, enjoying panoramic views from a specialty train cabin that takes you to some of the highest peaks in the Alps and alongside iconic sites, such as Lago Bianco covered in snow.

Individual travel to Interlaken via Lucerne. Interlaken sits in the heart of the Bernese Oberland and the Swiss Alps. It is the gateway to the Jungfrau region with the famous peaks Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau. Interlaken nestles between the two beautiful lakes of Thun and Brienz at the foot of the Jungfrau massif. There is so much to do in Interlaken and the surrounding area is a holiday region like no other; consider a mountain excursion to the Jungfraujoch or Schilthorn (Not included).

Breakfast at the hotel. Today discover the many highlights along the Glacier Express route. The trip between Zermatt and St. Moritz is unforgettable. Surrounded by a fantastic mountain panorama, the journey leads eastwards into the Upper Rhone valley which reaches 1,366m at Oberwald, passing Andermatt onwards to the Oberlap Pass before winding its way upwards to 2,034m (the highest point of the journey). The journey continues on a decent along the Rhine valley to Chur at 595m (the lowest point of the route). The landscape looks very dramatic in the Rhine gorge between IIanz and Reichenau. The journey ends in St. Mortiz, the world-renowned winter sport resort in the snowy Engadine.

Breakfast at the hotel. Board a regional train to Pontresina and change to the Bernina Express panoramic train to Tirano. Enjoy from your seat the wintery scenes through the Upper Engadine Valley. The train continues to the highest peaks of the Canton of Graubunden and the Morteratsch Glacier, where the ascent up the Bernina Pass begins. Lago Bianco will come into sight and at this time of year covered in snow. Soon after reach the highest point of 2,253m at Ospizio Bernina before the dramatic decent down via Alp Grum starts which offers magnificent views of the Palu Glacier. Arrive in the northern Italian town of Tirano. Return to St. Mortiz by regional train service.
