This 10-day Greek vacation takes you from Athens to key islands in the Cyclades, including Milos, Santorini, and Mykonos. It features first-class accommodations and a mix of small group and private tours.
Your journey begins in Athens, the Greek capital and once the centre of the Western world. While based in Athens, you’ll journey into the ancient past with a full-day tour of Mycenae, the home of King Agamemnon from over 3,000 years ago. You’ll tour the ruins, including the Tomb of Agamemnon, before continuing to the first capital of modern Greece, Nafplio, with its distinctive Venetian fortress. Close out the day in Epidaurus, birthplace of Apollo’s son Asclepius and home to the world’s most famous ancient theatre, possibly the best preserved classical Greek building.
Head to the port of Piraeus and connect by private catamaran to the island of Milos, where the Venus de Milo was first found. You’ll have two nights at leisure on this sunny island known for its sun-bleached volcanic rocks and multitude of beaches. Hit up the beach, explore nearby villages, and enjoy the beautiful rocky landscape. Continue onwards by catamaran to the famous island of Santorini, known for its whitewashed buildings hugging the volcanic hillside. You’ll spend a day hiking to the caldera of Santorini, passing through the whitewashed villages and experiencing the beautiful landscape firsthand. You’ll also pass by the ruins of a fortress, Firostefani, the Monastery of St. Nicholas, and the settlement of Imerovigli.
After exploring this beautiful island, continue onwards by catamaran to Mykonos, the island that defines the famous nightlight of the Cyclades. In the daytime before the beachside clubs open, you’ll head on a tour to Delos, a centrepiece of Antiquity and the mythical birthplace of Apollo and Artemis. You’ll tour the island’s ruins, including the house of Dionysus, and see old statues and artifacts before returning to Mykonos.
At the end of your stay, you’ll connect back to Piraeus Port by catamaran and spend one last night in Athens. The next day head to the airport for onward travels.
