This 10-day Australian vacation takes you to Sydney, Adelaide, Kangaroo Island, the Great Barrier Reef, and the Daintree Rainforest. It includes first-class accommodations and small group tours.
Your journey begins in beautiful Sydney, Australia’s largest city, where you’ll get your bearings with a city tour. Start in the historic Rocks district before continuing to Sydney Harbour, home to the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge, Oxford Street, Bondi Beach, and ending the tour at Mrs. Macquarie’s Point for incredible views over the harbour. Then board a cruising yacht for a luncheon cruise across the harbour. Learn about the history of the city and enjoy the best views of the harbour while dining on a three-course barbecue lunch. Take another day to explore the Blue Mountains, a breathtaking mountain landscape of sandstone peaks, drop waterfalls, and Aboriginal rock art sites.
Connect to Adelaide and see the highlights of the South Australian capital on a city walking tour. Of special interest is the Art Gallery of South Australia, home to arguably the country’s best art collection. Fly to nearby Kangaroo Island, a biodiverse wonderland known for its dense animal population, and explore the conservation park, spotting wild kangaroos, wallabies, and glossy black cockatoos. During your time on Kangaroo Island, you’ll visit the sea lion colony at Seal Bay Conservation Park, hike through Flinders Chase National Park, and spot the beautiful geological formations of Admiral’s Arch and the Remarkable Rocks.
Fly back to Adelaide and connect onward to Cairns in northern Queensland, and then to Port Douglas. Based at a beachside resort, you’ll explore the Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest. Cruise out into the Low Isles of the reef to snorkel through coral gardens and lounge on remote white-sand beaches. You’ll also have the chance to ride in a glass-bottom boat to enjoy intimate views of the sea life. Back on the mainland, trek from Mossman to Cape Tribulation to explore the Daintree Rainforest. You’ll hike along jungle boardwalks, keeping your eyes peeled for the elusive cassowary, swim in the rainforest waters of Emmagen Creek, and cap off your journey at Cape Tribulation Beach, where the rainforest meets the reef.
At the end of your stay, reconnect with Cairns for your onward travels.
