Overview

Trip Overview

This 8-day Croatian vacation takes you to Dubrovnik before embarking on a cruise along the Dalmatian Coast and ending with a tour of the Plitvice Lakes. It features first-class accommodations and small group tours.

Your journey begins in Dubrovnik, one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Europe and a destination made famous by its appearance in Game of Thrones. Discover the medieval corridors of the old town and walk the famous fortified city walls on a city tour before boarding the Katarina Line Deluxe Vessel, an intimate cruising yacht with spacious accommodations and luxury amenities. The Katarina Line Deluxe Vessell will be your home for the next four nights.

Depart Dubrovnik and begin your cruise along the Dalmation Coast. Stop off in the Elaphiti Islands to visit a local farm and enjoy a village party for dinner that evening. Back on board, continue to the Peljesac Peninsula. Stop for a swim in the Pakleni Islands before reaching Hvar, the longest island in the Adriatic and home to beautiful Renaissance fortifications, including the oldest community theatre in Europe, founded in 1612. You’ll have time to explore the town and fort and hit up the good bars and restaurants before continuing your cruise along the Dalmatian Coast to Split.

In Split, you’ll disembark and spend the evening in the downtown next to Diocletian’s Palace, the former home of the Roman Emperor and the Croatian capital’s greatest historical landmark. Connect overland for a full-day tour of the Plitvice Lakes, perhaps the most celebrated natural spot in Croatia. Explore the 12 lakes set in the beautiful woodlands and stroll alongside karst rivers, babbling streams, and crystal-clear lakes. You’ll even visit the Big Waterfall, with its 78m drop, before boarding a tram for a ride back to a local tavern for lunch. Return to Split for one more night.

At the end of your stay, connect to the airport for onward travels.

Our comfortable, air-conditioned mini-van or bus will pick you up at the prearranged location and head up through the countryside towards - Plitvice Lakes. The unity and harmony of 16 lakes and their rare natural and cultural value is not famous only throughout Croatia, but also worldwide; earning this remarkable national park a coveted place on UNESCO's list of World Heritage sites. Arriving to Plitvice, we'll walk through these ancient woodlands led by our experienced guide. The path takes us first across Gornja Jezera (Upper Lakes), a system of 12 lakes separated by travertine barriers. Then it's time for a peaceful boat ride towards the second area called Donja Jezera (Lower Lakes), placed in a limestone canyon. Wherever you are in Pltivice it's easy to see why its travertine marble formations are such an extraordinary natural phenomenon. The barriers, sills and other forms created in these lakes, karst rivers and streams are still an ongoing process that shapes the wonderful landscapes that make your walk through the park so enjoyable. It's these same travertine formations that have and are still creating the numerous magnificent waterfalls here. Over time, the water changes its course, leaving some barriers dry as it deposits new layers elsewhere. This constant evolution makes the Plitvice Lakes never look the same. The best way to actually see this happening is when you are standing in front of the Big Waterfall, 78 meters high. The roaring thunder of the water as it hits the ground is unforgettable. Our journey ends with a tram ride. With the end of the guided sightseeing, we go in a restaurant for an optional lunch. After restaurant it's time to drive back to Split along the highway, still excited and full of lasting impressions - make sure your camera has extra batteries.
