This 5-day Scottish vacation takes you from Edinburgh to the Isle of Skye. It features moderate accommodations, small group tours, and is a great introduction to Scotland.
Your journey begins in Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Upon arrival, you’ll have a day to settle in and explore Edinburgh on your own based out of your charming hotel in the Old Town. On your first full day in the city, you’ll head on a small group bus tour to several of the city’s most popular sites, including Edinburgh Castle, Grassmarket, and Calton Hill, including Holyrood Park and Holyrood Palace. After getting a taste for Edinburgh, head north on route to the Isle of Skye. You’ll pass Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument, skirt Loch Luibnaig, stop off at Eilean Donan Castle, and cross the bridge to Skye and the capital, Portree.
On the Isle of Skye, you’ll spend a day exploring in the company of a professional driver/guide. You can follow your interests and dictate the itinerary. Head north to the rock formations of Trotternish Ridge, see the Old Man of Storr, head west into the green valley of Glendale, gaze out over the ocean at Neist Point, or visit Dunvegan Castle, 13th-century home to Clan Macleod. You’ll then return to the mainland, stopping off at Loch Ness to try to spot Nessie before heading through the Perthshire Villages before reaching Edinburgh.
In Edinburgh, you’ll head to the airport or train station to connect to your onward destination.
