Trip Overview

This 7 day program combines 3 nights in Athens and a 4 day escorted coach tour to the Greek countryside. Spend time in one of the world’s oldest cities, the cradle of civilization and birthplace of democracy.  Outside of the city you will visit Delphi, Olympia and Meteora, where some of the most important events in ancient Greece took place.

Start your stay with an extensive tour of Athens including a visit to the Acropolis, the ancient citadel which dominates Athens as it sits on a rocky hill. It is crowned by the Parthenon, the temple dedicated to the goddess, Athena. Afterwards, visit the Temple of Olympic Zeus, once the largest temple in Greece, the Panathinaiko Stadium, the site of the first Olympic Games in 1896, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and the Parliament Building. View the treasures of the Acropolis Museum.

Continue your journey the next day by joining an guided escorted coach tour to Olympia, the site of the original Olympic games. The following day, you will reach  Delphi, said to be the home of the famous oracle of ancient Greece. Delphi lies under the dominating Mount Parnassus. Here visit the Temple of Apollo and other archaeological sites. See the site of the second most important games after the ancient Olympics, the Pythian Games. Also visit the interesting Delphi Museum.

Enjoy the scenic drive to Meteora, the site of a huge rock formation that has housed monasteries for hundreds of years.  They are some of the holiest sites in the Eastern Orthodox religion.
