Amazing Experience

Overview

Trip Overview

Take a 7-day tour of Amsterdam, including day trips to Rotterdam and the medieval centre of Bruges.

Begin your Netherlands tours in Amsterdam, the nation’s capital. Crossed by canals and populated by charmingly narrow houses, Amsterdam is the prize of the Dutch Golden Age of the seventeenth century. A city tour will acquaint you with the city’s history and its charming city centre. Visit the Van Gogh Museum to see the world’s largest collection of the painter’s work. At the Rijksmuseum see masterworks by Rembrandt and Vermeer. Visit the Anne Frank House for a sobering reminder of humanity’s dark history and the endurance of the human spirit. Then cruise the canals to truly experience this “Venice of the North.” After enjoying the museums, learn about the brewing process of Heineken beer, and enjoy some of the world-famous beer yourself! Then make like the Dutch and cycle through the city’s winding corridors and cozy up in one of its many cafes.

From Amsterdam, explore nearby cities to fully appreciate the region. Visit the yellow cube houses of Rotterdam and ride the Euroscoop, a rotating glass elevator, up the 185 metres of Euromast Tower. Then enter Belgium to explore Bruges, the medieval town centre defined by its cobblestoned streets, church spires, and canals. Be sure to visit the Church of Our Lady, with its 122-metre tall tower. At the Church of Our Lady, you’ll be lucky enough to see the only Michelangelo sculpture outside of Italy: the white marble Madonna and Child.

This city break is an ideal way to see the charming canal cities of Europe’s northwest on a Netherlands vacation.

This excursion takes you to the countryside north of Amsterdam, to the edge of the river Zaan, where you visit windmill village 'de Zaanse Schans', with its characteristic green wooden houses. On the turn of the 18th century this district was an industrial area with approximately 700 windmills in use. In this day and age there are only five left.
