Trip Overview

This 4-day Ghana vacation takes you to the capital Accra. It features first-class accommodations and private tours.

Your trip to Ghana showcases the sights and sounds of the capital Accra, the largest city in the country, which is defined by its busy marketplaces, national monuments, and remnants from a colonial past. Head on a full day city tour to trace the history of the nation’s independence and get a taste of the lively market culture. Start at Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, which celebrates the legacy of the nation’s first president. Continue to the W.E.B. Dubois Centre for Pan African Culture, where the famous Civil Rights activist was buried, before reaching Independence Square, where the Black Star monument immortalizes the nation’s independence from European powers. Get your first taste for Ghanaian bartering at the Arts Centre before reaching Osu-Oxford Street to experience the sensory overload of Ghana’s busiest shopping and restaurant street. At day’s end, swing by the colonial neighbourhood of Jamestown if you have time, seeing the lovely old buildings and iconic red lighthouse that sits on the gulf.

Another day, head into the east of the country to visit the Cedi Bead Factory and learn about the great cultural importance that these colourful red and blue beads have in Ghanaian culture. You’ll tour the factory, learn to make beads by hand, and have a chance to shop for some beads at the local market.

Spend another night in Accra. At the end of your stay, connect to the airport to head to your next destination or return home.
