This wonderful 10 day safari in Zambia allows you some unique experiences in the bush. Zambia is home to the walking safari and this itinerary will take you to two iconic locations to do that. After arrival in Lusaka we will take you to Kafue National Park. More off the beaten track and less visited it has spectacular wildlife. Then it is off to South Luangwa National Park known for its leopards and over 40 other kinds of mammals and 400 species of birds. It is a nature lover’s paradise. You will visit one of the iconic lodges in the park and then it is off to some beautiful remote bush camps were you will partake in what this area is known for—the walking safari. See Africa and the bush in a way few others will have the opportunity to do.

Welcome to Africa! On arrival at Lusaka’s International Airport in Zambia your guide will meet you and take you to the Protea Cairo Hotel (BB) Rest, Relax & Get Ready to experience Africa!

✈ Welcome to Africa! On arrival at Lusaka Airport in Zambia you will be met at the airport and escorted to a charter flight to Kafue National Park. This is approximately a 60 minute flight and then a 40 minute road transfer to Mukambi Safari Lodge. Upon arrival at the lodge you will check in and prepare to go on your first game drive. Get ready to experience Africa! Kafue National Park is the largest national park in Zambia, the park holds possibly the greatest diversity of wildlife of any National Park in Africa. A variety of exciting activities include both day and night game drives, boat cruises, canoeing, fishing trips along with walking safaris are included. You are likely to see in this park elephant, tree climbing lions, leopard, cheetah, hippo and many other mammals.

 

The lodge and the area have many activities for you. Game drives, walking safaris, boat cruises, or fish. Game drives start by taking a boat across the Kafue River. Kafue has all the big cats as well as abundant other wildlife.

Spend a final day in Mukambi. You are now in the safari rhythm. The wildlife is spectacular here. Every day is different and you never know what you will find. But your days here are not just about seeing the wildlife but learning from your guide about the eco system with all her flora and fauna as well as how to track and find wildlife.

✈ Today you will say goodbye to your new found friends in Kafue and head for a 70 minute flight back to Lusaka. Upon arrival you will be transferred to another charter flight to Mfuwe airstrip in South Luangwa National Park. This is one of Africa’s last unspoilt wilderness areas with over 40 kinds of mammals and 400 bird species: It is a true paradise for nature lovers and photographers! Upon arrival you will be transferred to Mfue Lodge a beautiful camp that is known for its the elephants that sometimes walk through the lobby!

Today you will leave Mfue and head out to Chindenione of their beautiful bush camps. There will be the opportunity to go on a walking safari or a game drive or simply sit at the camp and watch for wildlife who might walk by.

You are now in the rhythm of the bush. Spend another day on game drives or walks Each day is unique and you never know what you might see. You will be amazed at what your guides can spot and how they track the animals to bring you up close and personal. Learn not only about the animals but the bird and plant life that is out there.

After an early breakfast, while your luggage is being driven, you will head off on a lovely 3+ hour walk to KapambaBush Camp. This walk will take you to some of the most remote parts of the park. Remember to walk single file, listen to your guide and above all don’t run!. You will stop often to rest and enjoy a picnic lunch along the way. Upon arrival at Kapamba Bush Camp you will settle in and get ready to out in the late afternoon for your first walking safari in the area. You will also have the option of night drive and entirely different wildlife experience. Return to camp for sundowners and a delicious dinner under the stars.

Spend your final day at Kapamba. Go for another walking safari and as you walk realize that this method of exploring is the way of the great explorers that came before you.

✈ All good things must come to an end, but it is not goodbye but only until next time. Africa is now in your blood. At the appropriate time you will check out and be transferred for your flight to Lusaka to connect to your international flight home.
