The Island of Penang is reached by a causeway from the mainland. It is a fusion of east and west which is reflected especially in the largest city, Georgetown. Georgetown, situated on the north east tip of the island is the oldest city in Malaysia.
During your stay here, you will start with a drive along the Batu Ferringhi coast with its large stretch of excellent beaches. Stop at the fishing village here for a short while after which, visit a Batik factory to see the manufacturing process. Also stop at a local fruit market and the SnakeTemple, the only kind of temple in the world. The smoke of burning incense is supposed to render the pit vipers that exist in the temple harmless. They actually have been detoxed but still a sight to behold.
Why not spend more time in Penang for further exploration or to enjoy the beaches.
